#amreading Speak No Evil is a disheartening tale of a Nigerian teenager living in USA who’s life changes when he comes to terms with his homosexuality. Coming from a traditional Christian Nigerian household, Niru’s not the only one who’s revelation affects. The social and cultural pressures are too heavy on his shoulders, he’s the son of a Nigerian diplomat, a straight A student, a competitive athlete and the perfect friend to the similarly reluctant Meredith. This is a very short coming of age tale about acceptance, family and identity. With the exception of the very weak beginning, the author Uzodinma Iweala’s unique voice sucks you in and corners you with the many tribulations Niru goes through.
